Right away with his very first single 'My Boy', newcomer Elvie Shane climbed all the way to Number 1 on the Radio (Billboard Country Airplay) Chart in the fall of 2021. It was the authentic story about (his) adopted son that went straight to the heart of the audience. The song can be found on his debut album "Backslider", which was released subsequently.
In addition to his talent as a songwriter, it is also hard to ignore his passion for rock beats and guitar sounds. As he demonstrates with raspy, biting voice on the live-version of the follow-up single 'County Roads'. Even if it arguably pushed him beyond the confines of commercial country radio. Asthe single didn't even make it into the Top-40 there!
Nevertheless, he remains true to this path, which not only earns him an appearance (with 'Sympathy for the Devil') on the country-Rolling Stones-tribute project "Stone Cold Country", but also characterizes his follow-up releases.
On March 31, 2023 'Forgotten Man' gets released, a co-write with Dan Couch, Luke Preston and
Oscar Charles. It's an angry outcry about the
disillusionment of the working class, which amounts to nothing but the
daily drudgery for a living.
A blue-collar topic that would do Merle Haggards proud, as Rolling Stone Country is stating.
At the end of May 2023 another song written by the same four songwriters gets released: 'Baptized'. A lustful declaration of love in a fiery gospel revival style: If this ain't heaven on earth, not sure what heaven is worth.
On July 28 one might get the impression of hearing a new Eric Church song, when the driving 'Jonesin' gets released. On the Elvie Shane homepage it is described as: "With chills-evoking vocals and a driving bassline, the track finds Shane with a hell too hot and a heaven too high, unsatisfied by a life spent stagnant in the same rhythm. Written by Shane, Oscar Charles, Ryan Tyndall and Jeremy Spillman and produced by Oscar Charles, “Jonesin’” bears the passion of those born to chase the fire, those who burn for taking life by the scruff of its neck."
Soon as I get there, I'm lookin' for what's next
Everything that's killin' me
Is somethin' I love, is somethin' I need.
